No Bad Vibes on this Good Day

Thought this was too funny not to share :) "No bad Vibes on this Good Day, let us have a cold beer to good vibes and good times." Carib beer said in an advertisement posted today.
A Trini tradition but also popular in other parts of the world to, an effigy of Judas Iscariot is made and placed in the public for the community to flog. Judas is known for the kiss and betrayal of Jesus to the Sanhedrin for thirty silver coins. His name is often used synonymously with betrayal or treason.

What better Friday than Good Friday

Many Christians around the world and right here in Trinidad and Tobago observed Good Friday todaythe Friday before Easter Sunday as it commemorates Jesus Christ's Passion, crucifixion and death, which is told in the Christian bible. But what is also important about today was that it was the day when the terms Anno Domini (AD) and Before Christ (BC) began being used to label or number years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. The term anno Domini is Medieval Latin and means "in the year of the Lord", but is often translated as "in the year of our Lord". Bet some of you didnt know that tid bit 😁

But besides today being a Good Friday for all the religous and time related meanings it is also a Good... no a Great day to be a Trini because we 1. get a Public Holiday and 2. get to eat some great food. I'm sure many of us Christians or not, had hot cross buns at breakfast this morning.

Hot Cross Buns

However the true treat would have come at Lunch where there is usually an assortment of seafood, ground provisions and cornmeal dishes. Here are a few pics of Lunch prepared by some of the better cooks I know in Trini...

Baked Fish in Coconut Sauce

Stewed Fish

Curried Shirmp

Coco (savoury seasoned cornmeal pie) and Callaloo (Taro leaf soup usually flavoured with crab)

Boiled - Sweet Potatoes, Green Bannans, and  Ripe Plantains

Now isnt that yummy... yep cant get a better Friday Lunch than that on a Good... no a Great Friday!

Enjoy the rest of it guys and be safe on the roads if your still out by family. And remember...

Positive Easter Vibes in the East

Better late than never... Of Records & Help

Good night guys... trust that you all had a great week so far and are just as excited as me for tomorrow - day before the long weekend 😊 Been a crazy busy week for me but thankful non the less because I am alive and of course I am a Trini lol. Here are the positive vibes that I picked up on today. Remember to look out for similar stories and share with me... Until tomorrow enjoy the rest of your evening.

1. Community: Remember 5 year old Khadijah Baash who I blogged about last Monday? Khadijah had topped her pre-school class in mathematics and reading last term despite not having electricity at her Heights of Guanapo, Arima home. Well we have great news as several charitable organisations, members of the public, Habitat for Humanity and a former attorney general yesterday offered to help.

2. Sport: Well we have this memorable day down in our National Memories... On this day one of the greatest feats in sporting history... the great Brian Charles Lara made 400 not out, highest score in Test history! Came in 778 minutes. 582 balls. 43 fours, 4 sixes, against England at Antigua Recreational Ground.Claiming the world record twice is itself great but this legend in 1994 broke the record of the highest score of 365* set by Sir Garfield Sobers with a score of 375. Matthew Hayden then broke the record when he scored 380 versus Zimbabwe, but 2 years later Lara rewrote the record books when he scored 400* against the same opponents once again. Truly a master batsman and a match winner!

Kick that Pessimism and be the Optimist who is a catlyst for real change today!

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” - Winston Churchill

Optimism can turn a situation that looks negative or bleak into an opportunity or something to learn from.

It can replace the draining thoughts of pessimism with something that will give you more positive energy and enthusiasm again.

And it can help you to jump over obstacles, to keep moving when you fall or stumble and to not give up just because you have had a couple of temporary setbacks.

So not just adding more of it to your own life but to the lives of the people in your world too is a good idea because you tend to get back what you give in the long run.

And in the short run, well, you get to enjoy the smiles when you spread that positive energy.
Plus, you’ll boost your own self-esteem when you feel you are doing the right thing.

Get out there you Optimist you and spread that positivity!

Positivity Overload!!!

Are You Letting Circumstances Define You? These two Youths are truly inspiring... talk about Positivity Overload!!!! Thanks Dana Mohammed for bringing these to my attention so that I could share with everyone else. For more details get your copy of the T&T Guardian who carried these stories today.

1. Youth & Education: 5 year old Khadijah Baash topped her pre-school class in mathematics and reading last term despite not having electricity at her Heights of Guanapo, Arima home. Little Khadijah lives downstairs a dilapidated concrete house, which has no roof, studies at nights using a kerosene lamp. Her mother Nicolette Moses, 24, has been going all out to ensure that Khadijah, who has her heart set on becoming a doctor, attains an education.

Miracles and Opportunities

So apparently my last two days were quite happy as you didnt see much posting from me 🙈 ... but the real happy news is that Im back 😄 today with more positive vibes compiled from Sunday, Monday and today. Here we go and remember if you have any good news to share please contact me and we will be sure to get the word out.

1. Family Life: In an unexpected twist of events, 33-year-old Kwame Regis was forced to deliver his own baby boy at home, a feat which has left him and his common-law wife, Doreen Roopa, calling newborn Ezekiel a “miracle baby.”

2. Economy: First Citizens Group CEO - Karen Darbasie says the additional public offering of 48.5 million shares in the bank is a “real opportunity” given the offer price of $32 a share because the price-to-earnings ratio of 12.46 is well below the average of the market. This sounds like good news for those of us who are interested in some long term investments, so maybe you should give it a closer look.
